What is AP English Language and Composition?

This semester-long course is writing intensive and designed to make students more effective writers, more skilled readers, and well-crafted thinkers.  We read primarily non-fiction, American texts and analyze prose from a variety of periods, disciplines, and rhetorical contexts.  Analyzing rhetoric involves learning and applying college-level terms and techniques as we examine the wide variety of strategies writers use to address specific audiences for a given purpose.
