Lowe Family Foundation Scholarship
The Bill & Suzanne Lowe Foundation will award two (2) $5,500.00 Trade/Vocational Scholarships each year. Each scholarship will be for two (2) consecutive years for a total eligible award of $11,000 each.

SECU Foundation Scholarship
SECU's the People Helping People scholarship was established to help North Carolina public high school students attend college. Applicant must be a senior, a member of SECU or have a parent/guardian who is a member. The applicant must also be applying to 1 of the 16 Schools in the UNC System, & must have a minimum of a 2.5 unweighted GPA. Potential recipients should exhibit leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement.

Calvin Coolidge Presidential Fund Scholarship
The Coolidge Scholarship is an annually awarded for high school JUNIORS, full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study. The Coolidge may be used by recipients at any accredited college or university in the United States. Anyone of any background, pursuing any academic discipline of study, may apply to this non-partisan, need-blind, program.
Students apply for the Coolidge Scholarship during their junior year of high school. Finalists are flown in for a finalist weekend at the Coolidge Historic Site in Plymouth Notch, Vermont where they interview with the Coolidge Scholars Finalist Jury. Recipients of the Coolidge Scholarship are notified of their award late in their junior year, before college application (note: current high school seniors are not eligible to apply). Finalists who are not named Coolidge Scholars are eligible to receive a smaller, one-time, college scholarship.

Barbara Lotze Scholarships for Future Teachers
The AAPT Board of Directors offers scholarships for future high school physics teachers. These scholarships, supported by an endowment funded by Barbara Lotze, are available only to U.S. citizens attending U.S. schools.
Undergraduate students enrolled, or planning to enroll, in physics teacher preparation curricula and high school seniors entering such programs are eligible. Successful applicants receive a stipend of up to $3,000 and a complimentary AAPT Student Membership for one year. The scholarship may be granted to an individual for each of four years.
Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the Barbara Lotze Scholarship for Future Teachers. Applicants must declare their intent to prepare for, and engage in, a career in physics teaching at the high school level and must, at the time the scholarship funds are received by the student, be:
- an undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited two-year college, four-year college or a university; or a high school senior accepted for such enrollment.
- pursuing, or planning to pursue, a course of study leading toward a career in physics teaching in the high schools.
- showing promise of success in their studies, and
- a citizen of the United States of America.
Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship
The Amazon Future Engineer program will award 400 students up to $40,000 each toward college expenses, paired with opportunities to intern at Amazon.
Eligibility Requirements
Be a high school senior in the U.S. who is currently enrolled in or who has completed a high school or college dual degree course where computer science, engineering, or robotics is the subject. Students who have not taken this course can opt-in to take an assessment offered by Amazon.
Be planning to attain a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or other computer science-related field of study from an accredited 4-year college or from a 2-year college with the intent to transfer to a 4-year college.
Must be authorized to work in the US. Example: Employment Authorization Document holder, Permanent Resident, or US Citizen.
Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
Must demonstrate financial need.
SWC Mary Eakes Scholarships
The Mary Eakes Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis by the Sedgefield Woman’s Club. These scholarships are awarded based on the candidate’s character, scholastic records, evidence of intellectual promise, demonstration of ambition and leadership ability, and the need for financial assistance. This scholarship awards a one-time sum of $4,000 for a first-place recipient and a $1,000 one-time sum for a second-place recipient for their freshman year at an accredited four-year college or university in the state of North Carolina. The first-place winner of the Mary Eakes Scholarship will also be eligible to compete for the NC Federation of Woman’s Club District 4 Scholarship. The winner of the District 4 scholarship will be eligible for the Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship on the State Level. This is awarded by the North Carolina Federation of Women’s Clubs and is $3,000 per year for a total of $12,000. If you are interested, see Ms. Bradley in counseling to receive an application.
